Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok started its operation on 6 July 1998 to replace the old airport at Kai Tak. Three bus companies operate franchised public airport bus services ("A" Routes) between the airport and various places in the region. They are Citybus, Long Win Bus and New Lantao Bus.
Citybus operates airport bus routes for Kowloon, Hong Kong Island and Tseung Kwan O. Airport bus service provided by Citybus is named "Cityflyer". A speical "Yellow and Red" identity is used to promote the service. Long Win Bus is under the same group of Kowloon Motor Bus. The company operates airport bus routes for the New Territories. New Lantao Bus operates one day-time airport bus route, A35, for South Lantau Island. Different types of single-deck buses are allocated.
