Citybus | Volvo Olympians

Volvo closed down the production of Leyland Olympian and replaced the famous model of buses by its own product - Volvo Olympian - in 1993.

Citybus has acquired 464 Volvo Olympians, and they were introduced during 1994-2001. Among these buses, 10 (239-248) are 10.4 metres long, 142 (901-1042) are 11 metres long, and the remain 310 (324-329 & 396-699) are 12 metres in length. Most of the Volvo Olympians are built with Alexander "R" bodies. Only 40 are bodied by Plaxton (Northern Counties). All but 10 buses were purchased new from Volvo, while the exceptions are 6 (505-510), 2 (1041 & 1042), and 2 (315 & 316) acquired from Stagecoach, China Motor Bus ("CMB"), and CLP Power respectively.

1000-1042 are renumbered to 9000-9042 in the year of 2004.
