Hong Kong Tramways introduced the World's first air-conditioned double deck tram for pilot service starting from 6 June 2016. The No. 88 "Cooler Tram" is equipped with an air-conditioning system that can also be turned into a simple air ventilation system. Hong Kong Tramways will identify the most adapted solution to enhance the internal ventilation and riding comfort with reference to feedback and views from passengers. At the same time, a study will be conducted to test the technical and financial feasibility of introducing Cooler Tram to the tram fleet. The pilot run was initially run for 3 months during summer time.
